Part-Time Registered Nurse

Education & Experience

Registered Nurse current with the Ontario College of Nurses; BScN considered an asset with demonstrated competence in Long-Term Care.  Must have a minimum of two years LTC experience.  Commitment to participation in continuing education including but not limited to MICs mandatory education sessions.

License and/or Certificate

Current certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.  Must hold and maintain current certification in BCLS Heart and Stroke, WHMIS, GPA and/or PIECES, NVCI.

General Knowledge

Knowledge and practice of the Nursing Process, CNO standards and legislated acts to provide safe quality client/resident care. Ability to care for ambulant and non-ambulant residents, regardless of complexity and predictability, autonomously within scope of competence. Knowledge of current principles of gerontology best practices where appropriate. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) in English required; ability to communicate in French is an asset.  Demonstrated experience with electronic charting. Knowledge & understanding of the requirements & programs under the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021 & Regulations, including working knowledge of Medical Pharmacies medication management system.

Demonstrated initiative, leadership skills, organizational skills, and flexibility. Excellent attendance record and punctuality. Demonstrated ongoing professional growth and development. Flexibility to work in a Long-Term Care setting with responsive behaviours.

Physical Condition

Must be physically able to carry out the duties of the position, walk and stand for prolonged periods, lift, push and/or pull. Ability to work under stress and adapt to changing workloads/conditions. Excellent attendance.
